What type of tyres does a forklift use?Generally two types, solid rubber tyres and air-filled pneumatic tyres. Solid rubber tyre does not take air or use inner tubes but instead are heavy, rigid bands of rubber that need to be pressed on to your machines wheel rims using a specialist fitting press. Air-filled pneumatic tyres will use an inner tube to hold air and keep them inflated.
-
When should I replace my forklift tyres?Pneumatic tyres must have a minimum of 1mm of tread over the centre 75% of tread around the complete circumference. Solid rubber resilient tyres may be used until they are worn to the wear indicator, also known as the 60J line.
-
Should forklift tires have tread?Forklift tires come in various tread patterns, each designed to meet specific operational needs. The type of tyre is crucial for safety and efficiency. It makes a difference whether you are driving on smooth warehouse floors or rough outdoor terrain.
-
Are forklift tires solid rubber?Solid tyres have a continuous and solid rubber surface that is fixed directly to the rim. They are robust and durable.
-
Why are forklift tires smooth?Smooth tires in general give better traction on dry surfaces, this can give you more rubber for pounds spent.
